Modern Classical + Trance? PART 2!!
« on: February 28, 2016, 04:29:48 am »
For those who have been following my first post, here is the rest of the it! I wanted to create a complete song before going back to fix the minuscule details. Let me know if something should be taken out or put in, technical issues, anything! Thanks for all the feedback (:

Somehow the sidechaining at around the 3:38 mark seems off-beat from the actual track. Maybe try tweaking it a little bit. Also, the piano at ~4:03 sounds a bit intrusive and doesn't sit the best in the mix, but I bet if you EQ and/or level it in a nice way it'll sound really good. The buildup is honestly so great though. Good stuff!

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll mess around with the side chaining and see if I can make it better! Yeah I haven't really decided whether to go with the piano or a more electric pluck synth.

Are you referring to the club beat buildup or the breakdown melodic build up? I haven't really gotten a grasp of the club beat part so it's all been trial and error for me right now :b

I always enjoy listening to your stuff, especially as it progresses further and further! One thing that came to mind as I listened from the beginning is to make the transitions a bit smoother. What I mean by that is as one example when the big chords come in at 1:00, it feels sudden. I noticed a bit of hi pass leading up to it. Maybe remove 4 kicks before those chords come in, add a bit of a break beat or some sort of cut. Also think about exporting the chords with a ton of reverb on them to get a huge tail, turn it into audio, reverse it, and have it fade in subtly so it doesn't seem to come out of nowhere. Surprise can be a very good tool if it is used right tho!

You definitely have something special with this breakdown. Love the ambiance you've created. Heavy drop. All around dope.

Agreed about the off beat sidechaining. Cool track though. Good spacing and mixing of genres.

I'm cool with your transitions. You could maybe have the bass drop be more prominent though, maybe that's why the transition at 1:00 seems abrupt.
