Logic CPU optimization thread!
« on: February 27, 2016, 10:03:11 pm »
Ok.

Early 2011 Macbook Pro 2.3 ghz i5 processor, 16 gb RAM, 1 TB ssd with plenty of space, external sample HD

I continually run into Logic CPU overloads, I have turned my sample/buffer rate way up to lower CPU, I freeze all tracks I am not currently working on,  can any of you provide some tips and tricks are aren't obvious maybe to create better CPU usage of Logic?

Thanks!

it could be the age of your laptop, laptops get slow every year, same with every computer

restart the laptop, low cpu plug ins like sylenth are great, shut off all other programs you're using

hmm, are you using big plug ins? like kontakt? omnisphere? nexus etc

i know other producers use logic and they tell me that even logic crashes

when pressing play make sure you have an audio track, rather than an instrument, selected. Logic may be monitoring for midi signals which can slow things down.

What rpm speed is the external drive? Aim for 7200 or ssd ro reduce overload.
