Ableton user here.

I always hear about the superiority of FL Studio's piano roll.  For those out there who have used it, and have some experience with Ableton's piano roll, fill me in - what are the differences? What are the major advantages to FL's piano roll.

I'm not trying to start a "which is better" thread here; I'm genuinely interested in the workflow improvements that I've heard FL Studio's piano roll has.

Hi Bryan, all the major modern DAW software/piano rolls are pretty much the same, it's just a matter of personal preference. I know producers who swear by Ableton Live, likewise producers who swear by FL Studio--it's really about what works for you. Use something that is comfortable for you and allows you maximum creativity and productivity. Just watch out for the way Middle C is referenced in the piano roll of the different DAWs e.g. Middle C in Ableton Live is designated as C3 in its piano roll, while Middle C in FL Studio is designated as C5 in its piano roll.

I think FL has that ghost notes option which makes it pretty cool, wish ableton had that so I wouldn't need to keep copy and pasting lol.
