Finding a vocalist
« on: February 11, 2016, 05:22:29 pm »
I like making remixes with songs with vocals but in terms of sending them to labels, blogs, etc. its better if its all original. anyone have tips on where I would find vocalists to work with? My local scene has only two people and their voices are extremely different from what I would like.

I'm very interested in tips on this too. :)

hey guys.
Fact is.....unless you have a friend or something to do vocals for you then you will have to pay for a vocalist. Its a good time to be a vocalist because there is so many producers and so many people looking for vocalists.
I did my first original vocal track and found a super talented vocalist who also wrote lyrics for the song

found her on Vocalizr.
www.vocalizr.com I believe is the url .

basically you set a pay range  ( example 0-100 dollars,  100-300 dollars etc etc) and each pay band has specifics of what the vocalist will offer.
For example the basic pay range might just be a hook or couple sentences, then next stage up is a full vocal .......and so on.

Basically you post up your track then vocalists will 'bid' on your track and then you award the gig to whichever vocalist you like. you then move through to a collaboration page where you share ideas and the vocalist uploads the vocals.....once you are happy ....you release the payment and the vocals become downloadable.

pretty good site. Obviously - you need money to invest in it.

You could always try writing something on your Facebook asking if any singers are looking to collab. I managed to find some people this way recently, both friends I had who I didn't know sang and friends of friends who got tagged.

You should try doing some vocals yourself too!  Even if you don't think of yourself as a great singer or songwriter you can get it sounding pretty good by layering takes and lathering on the autotune.  I think producers often think of singing as this totally alien talent, but anyone can do it.
