Wavey - Chill Vibes
« on: February 05, 2016, 01:47:25 am »

This has changed a lot since its original concept. Went from being kinda dark and broody to chill but still dark almost.Would love some feedback. I know it needs to be mixed a little better D: not my strength but would love to know what you guys think of the arrangement.

Any suggestions for that fill where the pad section is before the drums change would be greatly appreciated.

Edit 2/11:
So I think I added some boom to the snare. messed with the vocals a bit and turned down the reverb on the hats. Think this will basically be the final arrangement before mixing it down.

Much Appreciated for the listen  ;D

Your snare needs more punch and probably some more high-end - it kind of has a nice character to it so I'd think about layering it, but it might be better to look for a different sample. Your kick sounds very boomy - it has a long tail on it that almost sounds like reverb.

That little vocal sample (if that's what it is): I like the shorter version of it (e.g. at 0:43) but I'm not totally sold on the longer version - it has a kind of weird breathiness to it.

This is a pretty cool tune though, I like whatever that melodic sample is you have running through it

I like the boomy kick, it sounds purposeful and full of character. I also like the composition, its got nice varations that fit together and keep me interested.

The amount of reverb on the hi-hat sticks out as kinda annoying. Maybe using a little less of the same reverb would fit the hi-hat in with the boomy kick.  I agree with Bertie that the snare could use a little more impact or low end to match your other big drums.

This is really cool, but I don't think thos "auhh" vocal samples work. Other than that nice track.

Thank you guys for listening  :) :)

Now with the vocals are you talking about the more male sounding one that is through out?
or the one I'm doing a slight rhythm with in the first half of the song?

When I listened to it again I think you guys were talking about the more male sounding one that through out. Its not really cutting through the mix to my ear and is really behind in the mix but not in a good way.

I think it's the one that plays throughout the song. My opinion is that it fits the dark aspect of the song, but is too dominant and used too excessively.
Mabye try to filter it out or make it more subtle in some other way and use it less? Otherwise a great track!
