progressive track so far: "Remember"
« on: February 03, 2016, 12:24:23 am »
Is there to much going on here? Should I make the melody a little more defined or leave it kind of blended in with the chords?

Thanks!

From what I can hear, it sounds like there are at least two conflicting chord progressions going on at the same time. I would suggest maybe changing the chords to better suit the melody, or vice-versa.

It Sounds really good, but if there could be a bit more in the high mid zone i think it would sound fuller, but that's being real nitpicky

I wouldn't say there's too much going on in your mix. If you were thinking that the mix doesn't sound very clear though, I would agree with that.

i wouldn't say there's too much going on right now but with the state of your mix it's hard to distinguish between the arrangement being too dense and the mix being too raw. i'd spend some time parsing out the melody and the chords--you probably want to highlight the most important track element so I'd give the melody more room to breathe

It sounds like you have two songs going at the same time!

I have to say that sound wise, it sounds mint! Good job

The sound quality is quite good, and it's a good start of an idea.

I think what's going on is, the ducking (sidechain pumping) is too extreme on the melody. It's good for the chords because they only change every two beats. But the melody notes change while the sound is ducked. I would take down the compressor threshold and/or ratio on the melody synth.  IMNO (my noobish opinion) you don't even need to sidechain the melody at all because it's not going to interfere with the kick. Unless you really want to.

Also, the drums are too quiet!

But -- I think this one will go places. Nice work.
