Peace, i have found when i get frustratated, its time to take a break, a fresh ear is always good to correct mistakes. If you aren't feeling what you are creating, just take a breather remember why you want to create music in the first place, and then ask yourself, whatever it is you are creating does it fit into what you were originally trying to express. If not then look for what is causing you to feel like that, after all you need to love your own expression. Everytime you review it you will be getting one step closer to creating that you wish to hear.

Stay positive understand we all end up cocking up, making mistakes and sometimes are just generally not in any type of mood to make music. Trust your own guidence !!!

I have found that failure is the key to success.

If you do not try and fail, you never learn.

On one level disappointment is just about having realistic expectations and having the right challenge in the first place. I used to get discouraged over and over because my focus was on 'making tracks that sound like professional releases' when I knew very little about how to get there.

These days my focus is just on learning and improving. I've hit a wall with the track I've been working on, and sure it's frustrating, because I got so much closer to finishing it than anything I've worked on before, and for a while I thought I'd nailed it. But this time I see it as a pointer to a new challenge (learning more about synthesis), instead of seeing it as a failure to finish a track.

I recently recovered HDD with some old tracks of mine from like 6-8 years ago. Dunno if something changed, but judging from those tracks, i pretty much WAS a failure back then. :D I'm really sorry to anyone I've send any of those at any time. ...also I'm kind of surprised I still have any friends. :D

But you know what's funny about that? I remembered those tracks being much cooler then they actually were. In comparison with my recent work (or with any kind of music what so ever :D), they actually suck really bad. Though my newer stuff is still far from perfect, there is a proof that some progress happened. ...and it wouldn't have happened If I concluded that I'm not mentally strong enough back then.

But yeah, it sure isn't an easy ride. Bertie South is absolutely right about your expectations. Set them quite low actually, because that's the only way you're not gonna be hurt when guys younger then you get to live your long time dream. ...whatever the dream might be.
"Earth is round right? Look at it from right angle and you'll be always on top of the world."
...but don't overdo it, because that's called being a d***k.
