"Best" cheap monitoring speakers?
« on: February 01, 2016, 07:37:38 am »
Hey guys!

I'm producing since a long time now but I never really had a "studio", only my laptop in my bedroom with some poor speakers.. ;D

I'm thinking about buying some monitoring speakers but I don't have a clue which one I'll have to buy, also doesn't have a lot of money..

Can you guys help me on that? :)

Thanks!

I would suggest to save up as much as you can for this initial speaker investment.

I was lucky and bought my yamaha hs8's on sale. They were comparable to the krk price point, but at an extremely better quality than the krk's.

If you want to get down to the nitty gritty of your mixing to a point where, something will continue to annoy you until you fix it in the mix, then i suggest yamaha hs8's (8's because of the bass replication. In so that you don't have to buy a sub).

other wise i wouldn't know what to tell you.

My friend bought some presonus 8 inch not long ago and he likes them.

You should save up around 1000$usd (not sure what country you're from) and go see see the different speakers available at local shops/guitar centers/sam ash.

I also say 1000$usd, because you'll have to buy wires and stands. Stands are optional, but if you have the space to place them, lordy it's nice.
Josh Huval: Honestly, the guys who are making good art are spending their time making it.

I have had KRK rokit 8s and Yamaha HS8s  ....I think I preferred the Yamahas but my listening environment was also slightly better.... bigger room and what not.
BUTT whilst in the shop I listened to some Adam's speakers. I believe they were the A7X model and they were awesome!! could tell the difference right away! think my next set will be those bad boys. You are better off just saving and buying a good set in my opinion.

I do like the Tannoy Reveal series - although i don't claim it's the "best" in it's price range. KRK's have become a go-to in the prosumer pricerange, so has yamaha's HS series..

Can't really go wrong with a dual-pair of KRK's for $300. Good bass, so no sub needed.

IMO, you're not going to find a better value than JBL LSR305s.  Read the reviews, then buy a pair.  They're so good and cheap that I bought a pair as a second reference system.

Boom! Love my JBLs! Night and day difference from my old speakers. I hear things more accurately now. Also got my pair off Amazon for $200 new!
