Good Vocoders?
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:27:27 am »
Any suggestions for a good software vocoder? Been inspired by Madeon and Haywyre lately. Also preferably wouldn't want to break the bank.

Thanks  :)

Madeon and Haywyre both use vocodex if I'm not mistaken, but theres a little know free plugin called the MDA Talkbox which can get you a great vocoder sound. It just requires a bit of channel routing

Ableton's vocoder is great - it can be used to add texture to any sound even without a modulator signal. Not a vocoder, but Guitar Rig's Formant Filter is super dope. I hear it used in a lot of Madeon's stuff (especially in that talkbox-y solo in Pay No Mind)

NI Razor can actually be a really cool vocoder, It's really easy to get some crazy unique sounds with it.

(Side note, the best part about this forum is it asking for your ICQ, AIM, YIM, etc  ;D ;D ;D too perfect)

I love the vocodex, you can do some truly unique modulation with that one.
Who gives a fuck?

Vocodex! You can do many things with it!
Also mda Talkbox if you want to keep it simple  :)
Cheers!

How do you go about using the guitar rig formant filter?? I love the Pay No Mind solo!!!

Seconded... I have been very happy with Ableton's vocoder.  Like Snack, I use it for texture more often than I do for actual vocoding.

I personally (may just be me) love vocodex, it has so many options, and is just so tweakable and can be used for crazy bass sounds, or making your voice sound perfect with that sweet new melodic house track you've started on ;)

Wow a lot of Vocodex mentions here, I personally like Dioxide in Reaktor, Morph2, Fruity Vocoder (with additional EQing/processing) also the MeldaProduction one can sound epic if you use less bands & tweak around (can sometimes sounds a mess with too many bands)
