Which 64-bit fx plugin do you advice for 303 sounds?
« on: January 31, 2016, 12:02:47 am »
I use d16's Phoscyon plugin to create 303 sounds and it has a built in distortion section.

But what windows 64-bit plugin would you advice for other 303 emulators, that don't have built in distortion?

Looking forward to your answers.

Dirk

I wanted to find some really bad, so I've tried almost all of them and... I found out that whatever they do It's possible to make by having two slightly detuned saws routed into a distorted filter with high resonance and right envelope. ...on almost any synth. (It needs to have decent filter distortion though.) It's definitelly not 100% authentic, but I feel like that's something listener won't notice unles he's realy nerdy about this. Good trade for possibilities that rest of the features of any given synth add.

Also dunno how you, but programming the step sequencer on a faithful 303 emulation is really cumbersome for me. :/

Hey FarleyCZ,

Thanks for answering. Yeah, the secret is in the distorted filter. I'm not that nerdy, I just want that b*tch to scream.  ;D Never owned 303 hardware so my ears aren't that good to compare software to hardware anyway.

I have been playing with this and I like the sound:

It's multiband so it's pretty easy to turn up the low frequencies and make some heavy basslines.

I agree on programming the stepsequencer. It's pretty hard. After buying Phoscyon, it took me a year of procrastinating before I dived into learning how to use the sequencer. But it was a rewarding journey.

Btw, have you seen Audiorealim's ABL3? Much easier to program. Take a look ath the sequencer:

Have to admit, this sequencer looks great. I'll probably give it a try. :)

give u-he's hive a try.  has three different filter/detune modes (clean, dirty, normal) to experiment with.  try changing the filter input gain and crank the resonance.
