WIP: Progressive House Track Idea
« on: January 06, 2016, 02:08:30 am »
Hey guys! I've been working on this for a few months now, and I think I'm on the right track towards finishing it, but I could definitely use some feedback.

whoops! Set it to private for some reason. Should be public now! Try it again?

Super refreshing... I'd try layering a kick with some more sub in there (only small/short though).

The pluck gets a bit loud around 3.52, and takes away from the otherwise immersive effect of the track. The outro section is also a little abrupt, could definitely be smoother. Nice work though!

0-1:00
Real nice percussion, could use a little more variation to spice things up
1:00-2:00
Same thing here, really great, driving sound, but could use some variation :)
also could get some more bass (kick or sub layer)
2:00-3:00
I like the processing on the piano
syncopation is a little bit off to my mind but when the hats kick in I'm really feeling the groove!
3:00-end
Nice job man! I like the chords and the whole track is really peaceful :)
If I was to do one thing, I'd go for a little bigger sound on your pluck, some saturation or chorus could help a lot!

Also I agree with Jay about the outro, you fade in so long with the intro that it feels out of place to end so quickly :)

Thank you guys for the feedback!

Would it be a bad idea to throw in a synth thats playing a sine wave in the key of my kick and process that with the kick I already have? I know searching for another kick sample would be easier to do, but I've seen another production vid where someone did that, but I'm not sure how effective that really is.

Feedback

Thank you for breaking down each section that stuck out to you. I'll play around with the plucks some more and work on that outro!

That can work, if you're confident it will turn out good - go for it.

As you said though, would be much easier to swap/layer in another sample.

Here's a pack of 500 punchy/trancey kicks; http://howtomakeelectronicmusic.com/downloads/Markus_Hakala_500_Kicks.rar

Hi man,

I'm really surprised honestly, been browsing this sub for a while and this is by far the best demo I've come across, congratz on that!  8)

The demo, sounds pretty good, but some things that bother me:

- It lacks elements, I'm pretty sure this is because it's a WIP and because this style doesn't abuse instruments but I'd love to hear more elements, FX, percs.
- The hats sounds a bit off the mix, I don't know exactly why, but for some reason they don't feel good with the rest of the track, on the other hand the piano and pads mesh really well.
- I dont really like the melody variation you added at the end of the drop, it seems to have too much pauses and the sound it's a bit too loud, try making it less pluck-y.

Hope this helps, I really think this can be a great tune :D
