Avicii Style Progressive House
« on: January 27, 2016, 03:10:06 am »
Started working on a progressive house track, and somehow a banjo got put in there, then it became avicii.

Any advice to making the kicks during the drop fit in better?

Cheers

To me the kick doesn't sound that out of place.  Honestly replacing the kick in a track after you're used to it can be very hard but what I'll usually do is use something like Sonic Academy Kick and make a really clean sine click thats in the key of my track.  From there you can layer it out with what you like instead of just swapping in random samples hoping to find one that fits.  In this case you could also try layering the kick you already have with a hi-hat, crash, or clap with some reverb.

Dude this is stellar. Only thing I would say is maybe at 0:45 something sounds a little off when the huge chords come in. It's hard to explain haha I'm sorry. The kick sounds fine to me but I'm not listening on monitors so I'm not entirely sure.

Either way... this is fantastic dude!

Cheers, yeah I did a filter right before 0:45, maybe the transient of the chords spike too much there because the filter isn't smooth enough, good catch my friend, I appreciate it.
