I source remix contests for Splice and voting does not matter at all. Every remix/submission is heard in our competitions (whether by the label, artist, or Splice bros). None of our winners have been in the 'top 10' and were often submitted just before closing or low in the 'charts.' It's important to the label & artist to really find their favorite submission because they'll be promoting or officially releasing it. I believe voting/follow-to-download systems are gimmicky. We're exploring solutions and algorithms that can mitigate cheating with voting as well. If you guys have suggestions to improve remix contests or questions let me know!

Wow I'm gonna have to start doing Splice comps instead of Wavo! Do the remix competitions come up on the dashboard?

Wanna know what i find fishy? The fact that the person who won the hardwell contest already had a few tracks of his played out by hardwell, and one signed to his label. I've seen a few established artist claim that the remix contests are often rigged, which I have a feeling stays true with this contest.

I'm assuming you mean Olly James? He didn't win the Mad World one I believe that was an official remix, as the competition hasn't closed yet. But he did win one recently, Dannic one I believe, and he has had many songs supported by Hardwell so could well have had a nudge in that comp. I wouldn't say they are rigged, but the winners are often chosen on marketability not just music. They're more likely to choose someone like him because they've already got some influence & following in the industry, as opposed to a completely unknown artist. It's a shame really as talented artists may miss out from not having the exposure, but I guess the labels have to put themselves first primarily?

Try to just enjoy yourself. I love making remixes. Some have won, most have lost contests. But I created some great songs that I enjoy promoting.

Splice isn't much better for remix comps. Avoid anything that involves voting, even if they say it'll be judged. If the votes didn't count for anything, they wouldn't have them to begin with.

I don't know about others, but the Jammu remix contest was won by a guy that was like the 180 in the voting system and all of the top three were 100th or worse.

You can always just make original music.

Remixes are ok.

Now....if Caspa had another remix competition, i'd do it in a heart beat.

I am upset that Ill.Gates and kj sawka remix was unavailable to me, i downloaded the stems but frigging school was in session. So i had to pass on that.

I am pretty selective of who i'd want to remix.
