Split Second by Junklicious | Dnb song I'm not sure about
« on: January 25, 2016, 03:05:19 am »
I made this a while back and I'm not sure what to make of it. Should I redo the mix down and release it?

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Dude this is really nice.  I think the mixdown is pretty good but could use a bit of work.  To be honest, I can't tell what it needs exactly.  I think if you had a harsher pluck that was less reverbed over the top, that would sit better with the grittiness of your bass.

Overall though, I really like this tune.  Good job, dude.
I produce for Him.  Not me.

This could use some work, but I really like that main synth and the kick/snare.

I would work on those hi-hats a little - see if you can find samples of different hit velocities within the same kit. It sounds at the minute like you're using the same sample (at the same velocity) for the on- and off-beat hits, which sounds a little unnatural. I like that open hat that hits on every 2 bars, but I think something more synthetic for the other samples you've used might fit the track better.
