How do you make your loop?

Some tips to improve making loops?

Thanks for replies  :D

The best way to improve at making drum sounds for your tracks is to study the way professional drummers play and how your favorite tracks are programmed.

Pick out your favorite drum loops from your sample library find a nice 2, 4, or 8 bar section of the main drums for 5-10 of your favorite songs. Using your own sample collection, start recreating the loops either in MIDI with a drum rack (like Ableton's drum rack or NI's Battery) or laying the audio out on a timeline.

Start paying attention to what drum hits play when. If the drumming sounds more realistic, see if you can envision the drummer playing the physical kit (which is also a good way to learn how not to overprogram your drums - if you couldn't do it with two arms and two legs, maybe it's too much for the loop!).

you gotta study how percussion works, its practice man, this means that you have to listen closely to a song you like and try and copy it

dont be afraid to mix it up, a lot of trance now seems to have electro, even dubstup percussion in it
you can start off by adding percussion just before the kick to add oomph

I often put a loop into my DAW. And then kind of replicate it but using my own sounds, and changing the timing slightly. By using this basic guideline I find it makes making loops much easier.

Did you try recording some sounds yourself yet? You can record basically anything, and I feel that it is easier to come up with good loops afterwards because the sounds are kinda like your babies, you take care of them and raise them and you try harder to make it work instead of switching through a big sample database. I always find this very inspirational!
