Hey guys,

This is the second project I have posted on this forum. I received tons of very helpful feedback the first time around so I am back with more.

I spent about two and a half weeks on this total which is more than I have ever spent on a song before. I can definitely say I am very proud of it and would love any feedback that you guys have to offer.

Enjoy the ride  8)

Nice! Seems like the kick shows through the mix pretty well. I enjoyed the breakdown and the ambiance you had.

Maybe work on the Mids. Seems a bit harsh? Could just be the speakers I am listening on

Nice lead pluck melody. Breakdown at 2:15 is properly cinematic, especially when the pianos come in but could be even bigger. Sounds like it could use a vocal top-line.

The pad at 1:31 comes in very weirdly. Maybe it's the way you mixed it, but I don't think it's an entirely effective way of segueing into the breakdown.

The supersaw at 3:50 sounds very thin and could use more layering and stereo widening.

It is well-produced in parts but compositionally is rather generic for my tastes. You need to find ways to separate it from the pack. If it was my song, one way I would improve it would be to add field recordings to the breakdown to root the track in a specific place, such as bird song, wind chimes, or thunderstorms. I find that adding organic elements to electronic compositions makes my tracks really stand out.

All solid feedback! I definitely have been trying to set my stuff apart. I am still so new that it can be very tough. I am noticing that the pads during the main drop could use more width and size but I definitely struggle with that.

this is a cool track! could be a real banger if you had a little more experience mix wise, because it has the right vibe, but its just lacking a little bit of energy. at some parts i.e. the build up, you created a pretty strong build, with a nice energy to it, but then when the drop hits it kind off falls apart because its missing certain frequencies and fx which would give it that extra ''insert buzzword'' that would make the track complete. you could try adding a 1/16th bassline at around 300hz in the drop to give it a little more drive. also try adding crashes or impacts when the drop hits. i hope it makes sense, keep rocking dude!

The pad at 1:30 doesn't fit in with the bassline.
Try adding more layers to the bassline, or some tape stop effects or something to give it a bit more of a groove.
The drop at 3:45 needs more layers, the synths sound too "stock". Do this, take a couple of different synths with the same notes, maybe pitch some up an octave or down and octave, put them all in one bus and compress them together and give them a little bit of stereo separation.
Not bad for one of your first complete tracks, keep up the hard work and you'll be on anjuna in no time!

Thats pretty much exactly what I did for the pad stack. It's actually 3 layers one of which has another channel with a ton of parallel compression on it. Maybe they all stack too well. I can definitely see now that I haven't worked on it for a week that it could be bigger. That is one thing I always struggle with. The synths definitely need more stereo width and I could have added some more unique elements.

You're the second person to mention this and I am having trouble seeing why. Could you clarify on what about it doesn't fit?
