Feedback for My track Antidote
« on: January 20, 2016, 02:47:48 pm »
I just put my track up on Soundcloud which is called Antidote.
Consists of the progressive rock type sound that I really enjoy.
I would really like your thoughts on it.

Your drop really lacks energy. The build up was good and then.....flat.

Yeah,I'm aware of that.
Well to be honest,it's just one of my styles.
And well specifically for this track,I actually automated stuff from the compressors during the intro and outro and the drops(not exactly a drop)

Your style is to trick the listener? Okay. That's fine, as long as that's what you were going for.

That snare sounds really boring and flat, try using something different. I feel like the track is missing some energy, it just isn't doing anything for me.. IMO it's an okay track, the melody is solid.

It seemed like the second snare roll that came in at 1:07 was completely out of tempo with the rest going on right there. The drop could use more bass and a bit more width. I would also try to make that snare louder. Probably try a different sample and adding some reverb as well.

Keep it up!

I like how the clean and snappy the kick sounds. It does however stand out a little too much in the mix.

I think this is mainly because of how highpassed the main bass sounds. While it might not be highpassed, it lacks a lot of energy in the lower-mid region. Also there's a lot of unnecessary noise in that upper-high region, try to bus your lead basses together and roll those off gently.

I'm not a fan of atonal, empty build-ups. I think you can do better than just 15 seconds of flanger noise and percs pitching upwards. :)

For this style of track, I suggest studying Dyro's older sound a lot. Drop his tracks in a frequency analyzer like SPAN and study how the frequencies are balanced.
