Drum & Bass, need some feedback!
« on: January 20, 2016, 12:35:58 pm »
Hey  :)

::EDIT- Sorry, I realized I posted this in the wrong section, should not be in "finished tracks".

First post here but not my last for sure. This forum is great so thank you Mat Zo and all co-founders. :)

So I've made this track and I'm going to record vocals with a girl next week at SAE studios, super excited about that.
Hoping to get some feedback, ideas or critique.

Cheers!

Its really good. I like the kinda emotional chords in the beginning. This song reminds me of Koan Sound's chill DnB stuff like "lost in thought" "Starlite" and "Sanctuary". The mix sounds nice and clean. The only thing I could think to change off the top of my head is lower the volume of the more aggressive high hats (not the ones that start from the beginning. I like those how they are) that start at 10 seconds in or try introducing them later cause for me it kinda takes away from the calm atmosphere that the chords and strings create in the beginning. Also it already sounds well mastered. Speaking of which I have to ask the dumb question of what did you use and how did you master it like that? (my mastering is sub par most times)

This already sounds great!!

The mix is as good a it is. I hear some choir like vocals and some vocal snippets, I hope they won't get in the way with the vocals you gonna record.

I like the piano chords but here's maybe an idea to bring more variation to them; you can make them really short, almost stabby in the breakdown and then add a small dub delay. But watch out to not make it a sonic mess. Just a little idea.

Thank you both!!

Junklicious, The master chain on this one is quite simple, first Fabfilter EQ with M/S on removing a bit of mid, then camelphat3 (init preset) then 3% boost on Tube, then a limiter pushing it up a bit.

Thanks for the idea manducator, will bring a bit of variation. I'll try it :)
