New Drop ID
« on: January 19, 2016, 03:50:10 pm »
Started this project and came up with this idea rather quickly!

Opinions are welcome, I'm yet to add some processing/layers to it but the idea is there for now!

Also, when i add a sub bass would i have it in the same midi pattern as the main bass's or would i have it to go along with the kick?

It's a bit too raw to give proper feedback. I feel a sub bass would beef that clip up well.

It's cool but as I said it's too raw and too short for proper feedback.

It is good but need more power/bang.
Mix can be better.
Add sausage father or one more sound.

Hehe Sausage fattener.

Well, your bass sound is completely rolled off at the top end. It's all mids and lows. In order to give it more punch and power, it needs some high end.

Compression would help in crunching everything too. Your wav form is very dynamic. Give it some compression and it will sound tighter.

I shall see how the eq is set in the vsts then I shall add in some higher frequencies!

Also, I'll be adding compression to the groups for the channels then whatever other compression may be necessary, I'm yet to add external effects to the drums etc just got the fundamentals put down

If you're going for a riddim type drop, it needs to have riddim. The pattern you're using doesn't drive the track forward, it just plods along. There's no energy, no excitement. It might work in a 170BPM track, but not every pattern works at every tempo. Try adding more 16th note syncopation, especially with some swing; that'll make people want to move, instead of it just kind of going by.

I'm a little late on these replies but in saying the notes sound flat and such, shall i just add an automation on pitch bend? without going overboard of course...

& Wontolla, i shall add some notes over time, i'm trying to figure out how to add some high frequencies without getting rid of the sound that's already there as i'm quite happy with it

I second that this is really raw to be asking for feedback. More of an idea than a WIP.  Though in terms of mix I would work on the dynamics.  The bass itself sounds squished where as the drums are bit all over the place.  Usually in a track like this you'd want the bass to have a bit of a bounce-y feel to it with the side chain.
