What is your "Q" value set to on the EQ? Some values can create a boost at the point where it's high-passing.

It is most likely due to the fact that you are using a non-linear phase EQ.



Essentially whenever you are EQing, most times the software you are using will cause phase changes in the signal. This in turn will affect the levels you read on your meters or can sometimes change what you hear.

The only caveat to using linear-phase equalization is that it is more latent and resource intensive, so it's best to leave it for clinical mixing applications.
