Windows 98 Startup Progressive Trance
« on: January 17, 2016, 12:01:52 am »
Hey guys, I just started a progressive track based around the windows 98 startup theme (slowed waaaay down). I wanna know if you think I should continue and if you have any ideas of where I could go with this. Thanks :) https://soundcloud.com/declanjamesmusic/declan-williamson-daze-wip/s-JmmZr

This is so good, maybe you can improve the transition when the kick comes in but everything else is amazing. Keep working on this.

Yo I did a trap remix of the Windows 95 startup (https://soundcloud.com/phatscout/ninteyfive-click-buy-for-free-download), so it's cool to see more Windows remixes lol

Anyways, mood/groove wise you're off to a fantastic start, but sonically I can't help but feel that the bass is kinda muddy and lacking? Like, there doesn't really seem to be a solid bass in the mix (I'm hearing something that sounds reesey, but it's not really coming through and feel kinda muddy) and there's no really solid sub or low-mid bass in there.

To be honest i never heard the original startup theme, but your version is amazing! The only thing that i would tell you is that the lead is a little bit too quiet for my taste when the drum comes in

Cut down on the width of the bass (especially in the lower freqs) and EQ it a bit better, this sounds awesome just needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Sounds good. But as others have said, the bass is a little wide and muddies the mix. Get that tighter. There's too much on the sides, me thinks.
