Creative Delay Plugins that us guys should know about
« on: January 16, 2016, 04:47:02 pm »
Delay has so far been the most exciting effect i have used. It can be used creatively in various ways to create variance in a track. I would love to know which delay plugins you use that are free

I'll start, i use ljkb Pitched Delay which was an entry in KVRs Developer Contest 2012  8)

Imagine my surprise when I found out "restraining order" did not mean she wanted me to tie her up.

+1 for FreqEcho.

The old Kjaerhus Classic bundle's Delay tool is still a favourite of mine for simple delay lines. That, and the old TAL Dub II and III
Build it, and they will come.

Something that took me embarrassingly long to figure out, is that it's really simple to make your delays manually. Gives you much more control than any single plugin would.

also a big fan of the Valhalla frequency echo and also the Fab Filter timeless plugin. Get some really cool delay FX on that one.
Also one that I'm pretty sure is free is the TAL dubdelay ....really simple but can get some really cool dub delay FX. And of course if I want any simple delays my go to is the Bionic Delay, which I'm pretty certain is also free.

Soundtoys' Echoboy is great for emulating the classic Roland Space Echo (amongst many others).  Eventide's H3000 Band Delays is a more creative one, similar to Logic's Delay Designer in that you can set 8 different delay lines with panning and filtering too.  For really creative though, Reaktor has a ton of weird FX units in its library.

Not your traditional delay here, takes grains from the input and creatively processes them back out depending on what you specify. Really fun for making textural stuff imo

Eventide's band delays is killer.

Fxpansion Bloom can be pretty cool too, albeit a bit cpu intensive

Soundtoys Echoboy should basically be on everyone's computer.

The soundhack stuff is always really fun.

Fabfilter Timeless is awesome. You can get both very simple delay and very experimental and glitchty stuff with it.I especially love to put it on microtonic.
I have made some insane sounds with this delay.Check it out.

Nice find!  It's a very creative delay and so far I'm getting useful atmospheres from it. The interface is very weird but cool.
