Hello,

Here's my try on minimal. All comments about whatever you want (arrangement, sound design, mixing, mastering,...) are welcome.

I dig it! I like how your Kick has a bit of stereo top to it. Sounds like reverb or something almost, but it doesn't sound muddy. I like the main synth line a lot, but it feels like it could be a bit more bright in some places. Maybe use distortion or saturation. Your percussion / hi hats seemed to have a strange groove at the beginning, but they sounded fine further along in the track. The end is nice and full, and it sounds great! Well done. Although I don't really listen to techno, but this is well produced! I posted a track in this topic just a bit ago, it's a few spots below yours.

You're fast!!

Thanks for your feedback. I always send my drum sounds to a very short room reverb (on which I cut everything below 250 Hz). That's probably the stereosound you're hearing.

The main synth is done with d16's Phoscyon and I have totally overdriven the plugin (it has a built in distortion/saturation section). But yeah, it's still possible it doesn't contain enough highs.

Thanks for the feedback, I aprreciate it! And now I'm out to check your song.

Ok, I'll bite  ;D - it's got that FUSE sound, certainly, and if you're strictly looking to nail that early / mid 90s Hawtin, you've more-or-less done so - there's space in the mix and the flow is good. However, if you're looking for it to be a more modern approach, more akin to his Orange or later Minus stuff, it needs to be shorter, tighter and compressed more to 'breathe' and flow.  Don't take it as criticism, as such though!

Regarding the 303 sound, personally I just had to go hardware in the end, albeit a x0xb0x, it's a sound you need to nail to have right effect. We did a remix with Phosycon, was OK but then redid it with the x0xb0x and it made all the difference. If you can get one, even borrow one, do it, so much better.  You can here what I mean here -

Thank you very much, KickingPlastic. I'm happy with your feedback.
And no, feedback isn't criticism.

Unfortunately I don't have access to hardware, I don't know hardware users in real life.

There's the new ABL3 (https://www.audiorealism.se/abl3.html) but I miss a good distortion plugin next to it. Probably d16's Devastor?

Best distortion plugin is a good question for the effects forum - the d16 I use is good though for distortion I prefer Soundtoys' Decapitator.

I really liked this.  Has a lot of nice flavor.  My only thought for improvement is that if you can add some sharpnes to the snare(not sure if you even have one) without losing the flow of the song.  Hope this helps.  Good track.  Good luck with it :)

Thank you very much, ion.

The song doesn't contain a snare, it's percussion and lots of claps. I guess my next song will have a snare for some sharpness.

I'm not at my pc right now but I will review one of your songs this evening, promise!!

I love the bassline and this gives me a bit of nostalgia, as in it reminds me of a club song in a game. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M212A0NTrEc), But yours sounds better no doubt lol. You nailed the minimal feel, but the high end seems non existent. Was that done on purpose for a more "warm" feeling?

Thank you very much for your comments, Elixir, I appreciate your opinion, but I doubth that the high end is non existent.  :D

Maybe I should create a bell filter around 3-4 kHz?

Nice track! I can definitely hear a classic Detroit techno influence. Love the 303. Wouldn't mind hearing a bit more distortion on it.

I hear lots of high-end on my system. I like the hat sounds a lot, actually. I think if anything is missing it's in the mids  -- maybe the 1K to 6K range. I like the pad that comes in on the break at 2:25 and would like to hear a bit more volume/presence on that. There's also a higher acid synth noise that comes in at about 6:00 and really helps the track.

Then again minimal isn't my thing and my instinct would be to tell you to make it non-minimal, so ignore me. :)

Well this shit bangs hard. Love the panned 'sizzling' synths in the intro. Kick is like heavy as lead. Definitely feeling the Richie Hawtin vibes in this. Really love the imaging going on in the final third.

What could be nice in this is some distortion on the bass (a tiny amount) which is automated in. Like maybe some light bit reduction, or even a tiny amount of overdrive.
