Mellifluous | Going for a more mellow vibe.

I wanted to capture the word in a song, and this is what I come up with so far. Right now I just need to change up the percussion and add variation to the bass. Otherwise I'm almost out of ideas. You may notice that the first drop comes a bit early, same with the transition. That's on purpose.

Let me know what you think!!

Two things I would note is that, how it is now, the Hi-Hats in the beginning are kinda hard to follow only because the open Hi-Hat seems kinda random at this part. I had no idea it was a DnB track until the break drums came in haha.

Also whatever your voice sample is saying is really hard to understand, unless that is the point you were going for!

I love this track though, it is so chill and ambient. This is quality liquid! (Couldn't comment about the bass just yet because I'm not listening through monitors, sorryyy)

Yo,

What were you thinking of changing about the percussion? Beats are one of the things I'm pickiest about in a tune but I like this as it is.

That vocal sample doesn't quite sit right. The first few syllables sound in time but the last couple don't. I would try and find a way to use just the first part of it minus that last bit. Otherwise, everything that's in this at the minute is solid imo. It could maybe use some little atmospheric things or some subtle elements that contrast with the generally smooth sounds you've used. But I like it on the whole.

In the last 30 seconds that major chord comes in - is the tune going anywhere from there? If you used a chord progression using some combination of that major chord and the minor chord of the same key it could make a really good bridge to another drop.

That's a jazz riff I put together. I wanted the drop to come as a bit of a suprise when the drop kicked in. This way the intro has some character to it that sets  it apart from the rest of the track.
Ya I think the vocal just doesn't fit. I'll probably remove it. It's more of a palceholder anyway. I trying to find a speech sample that would fit better.

Regarding  the percussion I'm just thinking  of adding fills and a bit more variation. Atm its very repetitive.

The last 30 seconds of the song? There's no chords there, just layered pads in the root note (A).

Added variety to the percussion, changed up the bassline, and removed the vocal: https://clyp.it/gzlszbqa
