[_] Wildcat - Kyajsha (Chill, New Age, Odesza)
« on: January 12, 2016, 05:23:28 am »
Some new beats, a work in progress about 70% there I'd say.

Sampled tribal vocals, Japanese Taiko drums & a speech  on synthesizing sound (circa 1950)

I think a couple sounds I used could be adjusted, both in terms of instruments/levels.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Happy to return the feedback, especially if have similar styles. I'm into airy vibes with strong beats and a flavor of experimental. Think Bonobo, Odesza, Flume, Apparat.

This is fresh dude, really like knock on the snare, what sample is that?

Great progression and arrangement as well, I think my one critique would be maybe you could strip it back slightly and get a vocalist to sing a melody over this instrumental, I think what makes artist like Odesza, and Flume shine amongst other artist of this genre is they work with some great song writers as well.

I'm really digging your sound bro, would love to talk production techniques with you!

That's just my two pence (I'm English lol)

Hope that helped.

Peace

Yes, it's fresh. Originality. You have skill ! I really like samples you used. Nothing to add from me, just waiting for other stuff and I'll check your SC.

Thanks a lot.

I'm a huge fan of tribal ethnic sounds, TAIKO drums (that snare), and eastern sounds. Shimmery stuff.

Funny you bring up the vocalist, totally agree. I have a few friends who are vocalists. I'm picking up a new 9-5 job, so as soon as the income starts coming in i'lll get a vocal setup and start having fun with that.

This is wicked, really great use of samples!
As previously mentioned that snare is lovely. Had a listen to some other stuff on your page and its really good. Followed you on there for future tracks!

The arrangement is too repetetive for my liking. Tip: don't struggle day to day with the same project. It is a common mistake and can leave you with a dead end, where you can't progress on the track and it can start getting frusturating. And, imo, it decreases creativity and that is certainly something you just can NOT afford!! c:

Awesome. I think I'll add a finger snap to the "snare". Also would like to create more tension in some of the transitions either by integrated silence or better build ups.
