What noise-isolation earplugs do you guys use and/or recommend?
« on: January 10, 2016, 05:28:33 pm »
I'm planning on getting some earplugs for a show I'm going to next month.

I've been looking at Thunderplugs, which claim to block out about 19-20db while mostly preserving sound quality. They're in a good price range for me, as they're under $25 USD for a reusable set.

I'm sure some of you have experience with earplugs, and I'd like to hear what brands you've used and whether you would recommend them!

It's better yes. It's recommended to have some while going to festival, shows or anywhere there will a lot of noise.

Although, there is a way to create earplug that fit your ears and will be better. I don't really know where in netherland but if you search, you'll probably find it. It will be better because you'll have a 100% efficiency with it that a random earplug won't give you. Although, those look nice. ;)

I play drums and have been using the $100 Shure SE215 for a few years. Sometimes I feel like I have to wear ear muffs on top of the earplugs, but I doubt the sound levels will be an issue for most synth players.

If you can get custom earplugs made that is the best way to go. I got them over two year ago, they still fit perfect and they are a somewhat flat attenuation so the music isn't muffled. 10/10 would recommend.

I would love to get customs, especially because my ear shape rejects most earbuds I put in. (They just push themselves back out!)

Not in my current price range right now, but I would love to get some done in the future!

Any brand in particular that you would recommend?

Just go to a nearby audiologist and they'll make it for you. I just went to a place near my house.

I paid $115 for custom fitted plugs and two different attenuation inserts (-15 dB and -25dB). The brand is Westone, and I just went to an audiologist nearby and got it all done within like a month.

For something cheap, that works: POOL EAR PLUGS! You're in the Netherlands someone said??? Either way, if you go to a drug/convenience store there's a good chance you'll be able to find universal ear plugs.  Typically used for swimming, sleeping, etc. but they're also a great tool for concerts! I used them when I saw Zedd and they were a LIFE SAVER!  The plugs I'm talking about look like orange circles that can be molded to fit your ears! So if you can find these, it might work better than you think!

Also, some venues provide ear plugs.  This^ is a quick and easy solution, but if you don't want to invest in professional hearing protection right now, this might help.

Man, I got these V-Moda Faders for $25. Amazing price and they work like a charm. They hardly reduce the high-end, and have multiple rubber fittings.
