I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to layers synths and pads.. Thanks!

Well I just layer it like anything else. Maybe eq a little bit to give every layer each own space but I always use a 6 or 12 dB slope, never higher because than the layers won't glue together.

Don't layer patches that cover the same frequency range. Mess around with octaves to find which combination sounds good, and make harsh EQ cuts so that each patch is playing a very specific frequency range, with gentle slopes as dilly said though.
