Just want some feedback on the  mix, and just general thoughts on it, is it too repetitive?

It seems like a good intro track for an EP for me atm but that would involve finishing it... and other tracks haha

thanks for any advice

Heyo,

So, It's not to bad. At least for a beginner, it's not clipping. It means you have something. It has sidechain also. So mix isn't too bad at all. Need some work but not that much. The plucky sine sounds is a bit too strong, compared to the rest. So, you'll probably need an actual snare or a clap. Cymbals are fine but not really punchier enough to work properly. That's it about the mix/instruments.

Now about the creativity here, so it's definitely repetitive. It's the same chords, same melody all long. That's not bad but it's boring quickly. Some thing to do when you have that, is to use only in a single part the melody and remake one everytime there's new elements. Don't just copy it all over, make a new one, who fit with the first of course. It will force you to be unique everytime.

So, good but repetitive. keep working man :)

As a violinist, I like your violin section in this track haha :) ! Especially when strings come with 'spiccato' (the form of articulation). It's realistic and well imitated. From me, you should add something that will make a background for the track, to make flow. Also experiment with some sounds. You know, you have the main melody. Play it with different sounds, maybe from synthesizers or from recorded sample and place it in the different places of your arrangement. I agree that the track is repetitive, but I think you want to make a kind of chill track, so, that's fine :) As I said (not to much, I know), I will focus on these things that I mentioned. Good luck and I'm waiting for progress or your next track. Do music you like and expresses yourself :) !!
