ok I got my melody for drop now what?
« on: January 10, 2016, 12:08:39 pm »
let me elaborate, im really good at makin melodíes but where I struggle is when I have to make another melody for the breakdown, when I try to make abother melody it just doesnt go with the other melody(the main one). I wanna be able to come up with melodies that complement the other one. sorry for grammar.

if it helps I make similar music to kshmr, or at least try

You could try using some counterplay of your main melody for the breakdown...or do really atmospherical pads and short stabs of your main melody bringing it in slowly with filtering...

I agree with knappster, if you can't find a melody that compliments your drop, simply use the one from your drop. Fade it in, or use the same melody on a softer sound such as a pluck.

why not try analyzing other songs ? Porter Robinson - Language got the coolest breakdown imo i studied that then suddenly understood how it works. basically the chord progression decides where the melody will go. if the chord prog changes (not just randomly) then it'll be real smooth

This, if you're stuck, the best thing you can do is analyze songs.

You could use the same melody as the drop but remove many of the notes so it's not the full melody until the drop.

Bro if you have one good melody, then you're pretty much set. Try and build up to it with background chords and stuff that fits around the melody, before you actually start playing the melody.

Analyse KSHMR tracks and replicate.....??
Stop overdoing shit. Stop downloading new plugins for the sake of it. Your fancy stereo enhancer won't make you any better musically, your hard work will.
