Questions that don't deserve their own thread-thread
« on: January 09, 2016, 07:27:47 pm »
Hello everyone!

I registered on the forum to ask a question and I thought I could attempt to contribute in some way instead of just pushing another discussion of the first page to make way for it. Sooo...

If you have a question that doesn't quite deserve a thread by itself feel free and post it here.

Good way to keep it nice and tidy. I'll start with my, oh so embarrassing, question...

I literally JUST downloaded a DAW, having never used one before so I am as green as they get and I've already run in to a bit of a problem.
There's no sound when I play my project back. There is when I'm previewing samples but after I started arranging them, trying to recreate a track, they don't make a noise when I hit the play button and the bar passes over them. Screenshot below.
This is some basic shit and probably super obvious but I can't see why haha, nothing is muted! Hopefully the screen shows what's wrong.

If you guys don't think one of these thread is necessary just let it pass through, thanks anyways!

See, your problem here is because what you have in the playlist is actually a midi clip, and your midi clips are empty. The reason there's no sound is because there's nothing being triggered :P

Try double clicking on one and see if it opens up another little window for you.

Aight thanks ocular, that would explain it haha . It works when I put sounds in the edit window, I just thought throwing percussion in on a pianoroll didn't make sense ;D
