Vocoder, talkbox effect, Mat Zo's Burn remix by Ellie Goulding
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:46:59 pm »
Hey there people of this maginificent community :D

I have a ''burning'' question for y'all (pun intended, haha)

I'm wondering for quite some time now how Mat Zo did the effect on the vocals in the beginning of his remix of Ellie Goulding's Burn. What I hear is that he uses some kind of robotic effect that is layered upon her voice which is sounding pretty bad ass. But I really can't figure out how to do it. Does anyone maybe know how he did this? Would be great to know the technique, since I can use it in my production then. Not copy it, of course. But use it in my own way. Would mean a lot to me!

Greetings, gc1992

Wow, getting a reply from the master himself, haha! That is quite a something :D

So, is that some sort of vocoder which comes with Ableton as a standard?

Thank you for your quick reply Matan!
