A house song I made a while ago. I am still a beginner so I would love to get some feedback!

> hi hats too loud, they should be subtle
>your intro chords are clashing with your kick, make sure you high pass it. In other words, the low frequencies of your chords are clashing with the low freq's of the kick and thus the kick sounds really flat. Everything in your song should have its designated space in the mix. Google/Youtube 'High pass EQing'

>incorporate more white noise sweeps to build suspense
>the break at around 2minutes almost sounds out of key? gotta work on the flow here.
>bassline 2:30 sounds out of key
>the two instrumentals you've combined at 3 minutes are in completely different keys and dont match at all
>the general structure of your track isn't engaging, i suggest listening to other songs and seeing how the most engaging ones are structured.
>track is too long

If you want my honest opinion, you need to pick up a musical instrument like guitar or piano. Your ear is really untrained if you can't hear a lot of the obvious note clashes in this track, still produce - but put more time into learning an instrument and i guarantee you will improve exponentially.

good luck.

I agree with Saffron on this one.  I think it needs some musical work.  What type of music background do you have?  I'm just wondering to gauge where you might be with that.  Overall though, I like the vibe.  The beginning chords and bass line off beat pluck are good.  EQing that and cleaning up would be really nice.

But everything else in the rest of the tune needs some work.  Watch your keys, watch what presets (maybe?) you might be throwing in there and make sure everything works together.

I would suggest listening to different professionally produced tunes to start to train your ear on what sounds should be given emphasis at what frequency range in the mix.  Like Saffron said, the key to a good mix is letting each sound/instrument have their own space, whether its just gain, panning, EQ or otherwise.  Use all three of those and whatever else you can think of to distinguish your sounds from eachother and bring each one out to where you want it to be.

Keep working, dude.  I still think I'm awful and I've been producing for a long time now (relatively).  It will get easier, faster, and you will learn a lot.  Best of luck, man.
I produce for Him.  Not me.

Thanks for the replies guys :D
Well i agree with the hihats, i often have trouble with how to treat my hihats that they dont sound shitty :P
Never thought about the chords clashing with the chords thing, i always thought the kick is just bad :P
The thing about the off key pad is a really stupid mistake; I used a vocal sample and pitched it on the same note but i forgot to pitch them into key after that, i have fixed it in my version but now the pad is either way too high or way too low if i want it to be in key. This also explains why the bassline is off key because i used the pad as a reference.
I dont really know what you mean by engaging, i wanted to make a kinda laid back track and i had some ideas so i got that long :P probably should have introduced more chord progressions or melodies to keep it more interesting :P
I dont really have any type of musical background besides the music classes you have at highschool (i pretty much forgot 90% of what i learned there) but i would like to learn the basics of playing the piano one day.
Still thank you for the honest feedback guys :)

Its good for a beginner track. Highly recommend getting better samples. Everything just sounds dry.

The arrangement is nice. You got the jist of it. Just practice practice practice.

Also, its always good to have a frame of reference.
