Type 2 usually doesn't have a recognizable note. If your ears or a tuner can't find a note, this is probably the case. In this case, it's probably not necessary to tune it. (This is why rock bands don't worry about tuning kicks).

Thanks for sharing this, most of my kicks are "type 2"

Appreciate your feedback!

Amazing! @( ̄- ̄)@
Kinda busy at some points, but I guess that's your style. Are you signed?... if not, send this everywhere and get on it!

Not sure if I'm allowed to sign it. I did it for a remix competition which I didn't win
Remixes are harder to sign than originals because we don't have the rights to use the stems and so on..

Hi producers,

Recently I listened to this podcast "Wespin" which gives business and marketing advies to electronic music producers. In this episode, Resound talks about 6 reasons artist procrastinate (and how to overcome them)
Anyway here it is if you want to listen:
So I made this while I listened to it, I thought it might be helpful for some of you:

1. Decide to avoid Big Tasks
Solutions:
-Break down to series of small tasks
-don't think about finishing something, just think about starting it (biggest motivator: the action itself, do it.)
-WHY? Goals.
- (don't be afraid to) ask people to help you out (delegate tasks)

2. Fear of change, failure or rejection
Solutions:
-Take risks, face it

3. Facing complexity
Solutions:
- Simplify (20/80 rule)
- Education (video, lessons, reading, but don't get stuck, "In time learning", put in action)

4. Lack of motivation or focus
Solutions:
- Think about negative consequencies of not completing the task you're doing right now (people dissapointed, etc.)

5. Compulsive (internet) habits
Solutions:
- Don't multitask, focus on your work
- Silence phone, don't get distracted by social media

6. Physical fatigue
Solutions:
- Have a healthy life, eating properly, sleeping more.

Do you have more tips or maybe some experiences you want to share?

As mentioned above, ask yourself why you are making music in the first place. I think this is one of the most important things when it comes to motivation. If you're making it for money then it may not be sustainable, if your making it because it's your passion then you have no excuses!

Finished Tracks / Re: Avyan - Within feat. Holly [Melodic Dubstep]

Hi Avyan

Sounds pretty good, the only thing I would change is the snare in the drop, it sounds weak, maybe use another sample or process it more

cheers

Hi producers

I think this is one of my most successful productions to date, but still I want to know your feedback and know if I missed something or something I could improve
(btw I'm happy to share some details if you want)

Thanks :)

Thanks for the feedback, I have some of my tracks that the kick is not in key and I don't even notice, maybe because is too low

I'd suggest you to learn some music theory, this is a great place to learn: http://www.daveconservatoire.org

I produce trance & progressive, but of course this can apply to any other genres
How important is that the kick is in key with the track? Should it be ALWAYS in key?
By key I mean the main key of the track, in trance you know the key in the first drop of the track which is usually the key of the sub bass

Curious to know your opinion about this!

Mixing/Mastering / Re: How to let your pads fit into the mix
« on: January 13, 2016, 09:10:24 pm »
For trance I use pads from the breakdown and automate them in the drop with a lowcut of around 500hz or maybe lower, depends on the track

Mixing/Mastering / Mono kick?
« on: January 12, 2016, 02:55:17 am »
I've asked this before but I just wanted to know more opinions on this topic.
So, should the kick be completely mono or can it have some stereo specifically in high frequencies?
