Dude this is pretty good. But for me to enjoy the bpm is just too high. I cant listen to it peacefully (if that even makes sense ;p)
At number 3 you slow down but that is too slow for me. I just generally like techno at 120-130. But again thats me.

Keep it up!

While it sounds nice the track gets boring really fast. Also the sound design is really simple.

Drums same problem. Boring arrangement. Simple sounds.

I got to agree the piano feels super unnatural Try cutting out some high frequencies.

Composition wise pretty good. untill 1:00 when u make a decent composition into a weird rollercoaster lead that is mixed too loud. I think if u stick to that kick snare part that starts +- 0:40 u will have a very good idea of a song. Because that actually sounded really good. imo

Kick could shine louder through the mix. Also feels the kick is overcompressed.

Mixing overall could be much better. Just try to get better at it. Happens over time.

it is pretty solid tho man. Some parts are really good.

Here you go. All feedback appreciated. I especially need some advice on how to fill up the gaps in the song. It feels kind of empty right now.

What do you guys think?

As stated in the title returning feedback :)

Sound Design / Re: The "How do I make this sound?" thread

I would like to know how they did the chord synth that is playing throughout the track. It sounds so fucking good.

Ur drum work on this one is pretty solid. Really good job on some of the perc sounds they really fit.

Tho I really hate ur synthwork. I think they are plain saws which got a little filtered. nothing is cohesive to me, and the mix sometimes feels a little empty. Try to work more on your sound design in general.

Also arrangement wise it sometimes got a little repetitive after a while.

Solid work but it can be much better.

Thank you so much man!

Changing the rythm of that lead is actually a really nice idea. I will try it. But for now im a little sick of this song. Cant hear it anymore :(

Also I get that u dont like the kick. Tried to get a quieter punchier kick for this one. But it doesnt really sound that nice. Agreed.

I really needed to get someone's opinion on this. Thanks again.

Allright I made this, and I know it sucks but I just cant figure out why. What am I doing wrong.

Would love some feedback on ur thoughts on the cohesion of the track. How the transitions go. And what ur ideas are on what couldve been improved.

Thanks in advance.

Mixing/Mastering / How to let your pads fit into the mix
« on: January 13, 2016, 07:06:46 pm »
As the title says. Im having a really prominent pad and it is giving me some trouble. Cant be the only one.

Do you let the lead shine in ur mid range, and just cut the pad? Or automate the eq? How do you mix these elements together...

What is the best way to approach this?

Allright ill be brutal.

I think this track is very boring. Like really boring. It is really generic.
Some random black dude saying random words, check.
Some hard sub base blasting the track, check
Detuned pad that is loud. Yup

Beatport no1 here we come right???

Now onto the positive stuff.
Ur mix is good. Low end could be better. But for the most part it is really solid. Better then mine anyway.
I loved the subtle use of the arp in your song. they come out ever so subtly but fit the track nice. I like it.
I think for the most part ur subtle use of small variation is really good. And that is really nice because that is what keeps the track from being repetitive.

In the end I didnt really like it. Production wise u did a good job. Hope u think any of this is usefull

cheers

1/3 would process ur piano more and get some kind of ambient sound behind the track. Just a quiet sound with a little distortion to fill up the track. A field recording maybe?
Nice musical composition on that one. Just a little clean

On the fourth one ur doing what I typed above. Only the piano doesnt fit in, now. It is still not processed or at least too clean.

The last two track sound kind of cool. Drums are fantastic the lead instruments on both tracks get in a little weird. These I liked the most pretty good. But just not quite there.

Decent job but it couldve been much better. Keep at it.

It is pretty good. But i think the problem I had with the song was that it had no percussion whatsoever.
The chops in the drop are cool, but they do not make up for the lack of percussion.

Also the track feels a little fast for the melody. I think it would sound cooler if u took the bpm down a bit.
