seriously I have no idea what genre of music I make i figured it was future bass but i've been told not.

Anyway thoughts on the track are appreciated I think I need some vocals on it but I need to learn to distort and modulate them first, cashmere cat style.

Thanks

Thanks guys, yeah i've changed the saw and I just noticed the piano now, for some reason FL studio sometimes makes loads of errors while rendering and it seems to be a Kontakt error but I think I've fixed it.

Anyway here is the "fixed" version with a better mixdown and it doesn't sound like someone is drilling your temple :)

I have a headache atm and the chorus seems to amplify that but i'm not sure if that's from the saw wave or just me being ill, is it annoying or is it ok?

WIPs / New future bass track

Still learning the basics especially mixing and this time it seems Soundcloud has added some artifacts to the kick in the chorus, anyone know why that is and what I need to do to get rid of it?

Also just  general comments appreciated thanks

Thanks, I've made the mix a bit wetter and changed up the intro but Tension building is definitely something I know nothing about really.

at the moment I basically just use cymbals because of the sample packs I use i think it's really cheap to just take a riser straight from there but I dunno how to make my own.

Thanks a lot, I thought the drop was the weakest part to be honest. I've pretty much managed to make the rest sound what I want it too in my head but that didn't work for the chorus so in the end I just put a beat and a sub under it haha

Thanks for the advice

It's the first song I've made that's given myself goosebumps so I'm naturally excited about it but i'm not sure if that's just like my own bias haha

Just want some feedback on the  mix, and just general thoughts on it, is it too repetitive?

It seems like a good intro track for an EP for me atm but that would involve finishing it... and other tracks haha

thanks for any advice

sorry didnt realize private links didn't work if given the url, what's the point of that?

fixed i think
"Private", you can share by clicking the share buttons and it will give you a private link.

Although, here's a thing. Both genres here, Drum&Bass and Hip Hop, have differents drums pattern. Mixing them together could create some kind of rythm that won't really fit. (Drum&Bass is more like 4/4 and Hip Hop 2/4) Although, it does have some potential. Sounds more like Hip Hop than Drum&bass tho. Work on sound design if you can't make a good structure. Then when you have the sounds you want, take a track in a genre you like and try copying the structure. Try finishing this track and look back and think. Is that what i want ?

Do that with few genres and what you want will comes. Like "Oh, yeah, I liked that, what if I applied it to this genre, or this genre, etc..."

I know, I just remember hearing the same pattern in a drum and bass song I heard a few years ago and Zealots of Stockholm from Childish Gambino so I gave it a shot.

Either way I don't think i'm having trouble with genres so much I just don't know where to go next. I guess this should have gone in composition as I dunno where to take that next even though it's not really worth saving

Well here is an example of what I mean

I was experimenting with typical drum and bass drum patters and bpm's mixed with hip hop influences and some string instruments because I like them, but I have no idea where to take the track next. This isn't just a problem for this track though it happens with almost all my tracks.

Please excuse the lack of mixing as I am just working on composition atm

and sorry for hurting ur ears with this

I've always been interested in making music and I have been for a year or two now, although I am still basically just copying tracks, or at least aspects from tracks.

I want to start making music that I would actually listen to but I don't know what that is.

I like loads of different genres of music and I fiddle about in Hip Hop, trap, and into the "this genre has no name" territory but I still feel like I am just trying to copy patches and styles, even themes of music.

I'm definitely motivated and I mess about in my DAW for a couple hours every day but I feel like I should have my own sound by now.
