It's not super cheap, but i'd recommend the Arturia Microbrute (around £220 or so). I bought it recently and instantly understood why some people can't shut up about the "analog sound."

Feature-wise I have to admit it's fairly basic; it's monophonic and you can't detune oscillators. Also I would have loved for it to be battery powered so I can just take it anywhere But for simple bass sounds particularly, and bright saws/squares, it sounds amazing

My Gf gave me one for Christmas its super dope. If it took batteries that would be everything to me. I love sequencer and the overall sound. Just not a huge fan of the Envelope.
