Finished Tracks / Re: Big Room Track (JUNGLE)
« on: August 06, 2016, 04:06:34 pm »
Urgh... sorry to say that but I completely don't like this.
Chronologically, first part:
- weak kick
- rather static, not interesting lead sound
- strange melody
- weak buildup

<1st break>
- bad, cheap piano sound
- too many primes in melody while using piano
- effects don't match each other

<drop>
- harsh kick+bass
- just sounds bad

<then just the same>

Imho, starting with any big room is not a good idea because it's mostly technical. Making music is about making... good melodies and harmony, it's about getting proper sounds for the arrangement. For me, big room is quite an aberration - it usually lacks harmony, melodies are simple, yet sometimes powerful. Usually are based on 1 chord. For me, that's not quite what music is all about.
Why did I say it about starting with big room? Because if you somehow (don't know how) manage to get good at big room, you won't be probably good at any other genre. That doesn't work like that the other way.

I wish u luck, mate, but I was honest on this - this one is just bad.

Well, I took the vocals I found the best. And if you listen to the last stem on the list... The lyrics were really immature (imho), so I had to cut it a lot not to sound like -track-for-13yearsold-.

00:43 is bass modulated indeed :). FM for life :D!

Hello!

I'm totally new here, so Hi everyone!
I just found the forum I usually use to share and discuss my tracks quite unresponsive. I see like 100 "reads" of my topic and still no replies, so I thought there could be more, better places to discuss and share my creations :).

So, now about the track... I know the time of production shouldn't be any determinant to author's skills or track's quality, but - that was made for a competition (Mixathon48 - Event 3.0), and that's what this event is about!

We received 10 stems from 3 categories (Rhytms, Harmony/melody, Vocals) and had to use at least 2 stems (which had to be from different categories). I chose these (they are quite short, don't worry):

And... here is my track!

I had some intense time while producing it - well, it's not easy to make a whole thing (including proper mixing and mastering) within 48 hours. What's more, we had quite bad weather these days and I had to shut off my PC few times to prevent it from being burned from lightnings (about 10 years ago one hit our house and we had some hardware burned, haha).

Please tell me what you think about this style and overall quality. I finally have some time for producing and every opinion and advice is desirable for me right now :)
 + if you know any labels in that style, please mention. That would not necessarily be exactly the style I'm aiming for, but... that was the matter of time given.

PS. Really wouldn't want you to consider this topic as a sort of spam or something, but the competitions is still going and (unfortunately, I really don't like this form of evaluation), the judges will measure the listener's response in... Soundcloud likes of participing tracks.
So if you have a SC account AND IF YOU LIKE THE TRACK (really don't want fake support or like4like shiz, I want it to be fair), I would be really thankful for giving it one. In my country there are really few people having SC, so it's quite harder for me :).
