Sound Design / Re: Mat Zo "The Sky" Remake (polished)

Err.. hate to be that guy but doesn't this go at WIP/Finished Tracks?

Not exactly. this remake is not an original work or remix, it is a remake based on the sound design of the original. So it is considered sound design!!!

Sound Design / Mat Zo "The Sky" Remake (polished)

Fixed up some stuff  on one of the sections of my little remake of "the sky" Tried my best to emulate the synths in the original. Thoughts?? Removed my old post to repost it. (posted it a bit too late last night)

Nice work so far. I say add some more atmosphere to it so it sounds fuller. I like that vibrato synth a lot!

As mentioned above, I am a big Session Strings guy. Such natural and realistic sounding strings. I like to make my music cinematic so those do the trick.

WIPs / Re: Future thing [WIP]

This is a really cool idea. However the mix is very muddy, and also some transitions and parts don't really fit or make sense with the song. The intro and breakdown for example, the feel and sound seem like it is a whole different song and interrupts the initial idea. Work on those transitions and themes so the song flows more nicely!

WIPs / Complextro weird fun experiment
« on: January 10, 2016, 07:10:20 am »
Was bored one night and decided to write some complextro. I kind of rushed through so don't mind the super bad production etc. It was just a fun experiment!

To be honest, in my case anyway I never EVER plan out what comes next. the ideas just flow and the sections for naturally. I usually just begin projects with simple melodies and progressions and the ideas just evolve and evolve and so do the sections. I feel like forcing yourself and planning sections out can be frustrating and stressful. Just sit there and let your song evolve.

As a lot of people already mentioned, I too get my motivation in waves. It's a sucky feeling but keeping in the back of your mind that some "eureka" moment may come through could help you pull through.

Recently, I have been making little todo lists in my phone based on what types of production stuff I wanna do each day even if it is as small as tweaking a sound. Keeps me on top of things and good things come out of it, so it doesn't feel like you cannot do anything.

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Headphones for mixing - need help

I use the AudioTechnica M50xs Very very good quality for mixing and production all around. They are reasonably cheap too. They range at like $140-$150. They have a good design and are really comfortable. RECCOMEND!  ;D

Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Piano Plugins?

I tend to use Piano One for a lot of my piano sections in songs. It's free and it has a great realistic sound. However it is sort of buggy at times, but I manage. I still highly reccomend it though! Also Kontakt has some great piano libraries as well.

I have self taught myself piano since I was very young. Always had an electronic keyboard around the house. Before I got into the whole DAW deal i actually made little sequences on a Nintendo DS game called KORG DS-10. Basically a virtual analog synth. It was very interesting and taught me a lot about sequencing loops an stuff. So i guess you could say I played the DS synth too haha  :)

Hey Orno, is there any genre in particular you would like packs for

No genre in particular. Looking mostly for good punchy kicks, snares and some really good percussion.
