I have tried countless methods but nothing I try sounds quite like these 2 songs.

(Note, i am not trying to rip off Ninth Parallel and Madeon, I just want to know how they did it)

What would be recommended for someone looking to dip their toes into the realm of hardware synthesis? Is it worth getting any of the newer, cheaper units like the Arturia MiniBrute or small Moog offerings, or should I save up towards a grand and get something really decent?

been experimenting with compression on the master channel using TDR's mastering compressor, but the most important thing for me right now is getting everything sounding good on it's own without all kinds of effects plugins and stuff on the master
