Sound Design / 80's style synths, drum processing and effects?
« on: January 27, 2016, 03:19:42 am »
Hi everyone, so I am an extremely beginner producer, so forgive me for the absence of knowledge.
so I've recently been obsessed with the incorporation of 80's style to modern songs and its been used by quite a few producers (aka Nero, Porter), and a big thing that I've heard is that their drums are very distinct, and they also have really aggressive synths, I'm sure this is a very simple question to answer but what kind of techniques are they using to get these synths and drums?
Ill also add in a couple sample songs and where you can hear what I'm referencing
https://soundcloud.com/pelicanfly/picard-brothers-ft-erik-hassle-goodbye-good-luck-joe-rafaa-remix (at around 1:20)
https://soundcloud.com/nero/satisfy?in=nero/sets/between-ii-worlds (part at 1:10 is also a good summary)
https://soundcloud.com/ca012/porter-robinson-live-coachella-2015-weekend-1-free-download#t=22:45 (After the drum fill)
any help would be much appreciated, thank you
