You Might Like... / Looking for Vocalist/vocal
« on: December 16, 2016, 05:46:53 pm »
Hello Guys

I'd like to ask you...Where can I find cool vocalist? I mean , I'm looking for a vocalist which has some kind of "summer" voice (At least I used to call it that way :D). The Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XdcVSp4-2o
It would be cool if you could recommend such vocalist (or maybe sample pack :p).

Ps. I'm not famous at all and don't make SUPERHIPERQUALITY tracks (I need to practice a lot), that's why I won't even think about writing to a vocalist which is popular or at least won't collaborate with noob :/

Hey could you explain the thing about the hats please, I dont really get what you mean :S
I think he was talking about groove (it simply means some variations in drum elements , so the drums won't sound so boring/monotonously). Honestly in my opinion drums are okay. I think there is too much bass in bass sometimes (Like I have a feeling the track in some moments is too muddy).

You Might Like... / Progressive/chill track that's really awesome

Hi guys

I'd like to share a track I've found by mistake and I listen to it on repeat for about week. Highly recommended!

I honestly dream about that in about 3-7 years there would be on top once again Hardstyle and uplifting/classic trance. Of course that's just my dreams, because as I see there is going to be Trance 2.0 and psy trance(at least in trance scene). About whole EDM , I think that bass music , future/deep house and progressive/big room stuff would be still on top in at least 2 years. Unfortunately I don't see any hope for such genres like techno, hardstyle or dubstep in future , which is sad because they were great. I think that one of the biggest problem in EDM is that whole media/labels/top artists learn the audiences that "the most important is drop" , so the poeple forgot about atmoshpere which is way more important in my opinion. Just try to listen Asot 500 sydney set from Menno de Jong , Tydi , or Alex Morph. Even if I was really young that day , I listened to it throught radio and I had goosebooms throught all my body. Well , that's one of the reasons why I've started to produce music. Even now, when I listen to this set's I can feel this atmosphere :)

I've recently bought 2x Yamaha HS8 and all I can say is that I'm really happy with that purchase because they just works perfect and and the sound is pretty clear. That's why I hardly recommend them to each and every producer :P

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Limiter and Gate and it's use in EDM!

You could find a lot of these answers by googling them...
how works limiter included in cubase for egzample,  there is only input, output and release,  so there is no threshold so how it works?
If it doesn't say, the threshold is probably 0dB.
What's the difference beetween limiter and brickwall limiter (is there any difference?)
It's a limiter used to "brickwall" the audio (ie make the waveform look like a brick wall; everything close to 0dB)
is it good (worthy)  to put limiter on Master Channel
Only while you're mastering it, and even then it's questionable whether you even need it. Some people put a limiter on the master and crank the gain because they don't know any other way to make it loud. Don't be like that.

thanks a lot for answers :)

Gates and limiters can be used in a variety of functional and creative ways.

Limiters are an extreme form of compression.  Any sound that goes over your set threshold will be cut off (eliminated).

Gates are sort of like the opposite of a limiter (although you can use a reverse gate to achieve the same effect).  Gates are functionally useful when trying to get rid of background/unwanted noise.  Typically, in a gate, you set your threshold so that any sound that is BELOW your threshold will be silenced.  This is particularly useful when recording vocals.  You don't want the sound of the room/background/ambience - you just want the singer's voice.  A gate can help eliminate the ambient buzz when the singer isn't singing.

Limiters can also add volume to your track (at the expense of dynamics).

Gates can be used creatively (google trancegate), too.

Hope this helps.

Yeah,  thanks,  it helps a lot.  But i need to ask you something more like: how works limiter included in cubase for egzample,  there is only input, output and release,  so there is no threshold so how it works? What's the difference beetween limiter and brickwall limiter (is there any difference?) , also question about stereo out: is it good (worthy)  to put limiter on Master Channel or it's rather not important, or maybe it's a huge mistake? Also if I'm asking about such things i have to ask you: what's the difference beetween compressor and multiband compressor?

Finished Tracks / Re: Finished remix (DUBSTEP)

It's well made track.  I think

Btw, Only professional producers in here...?

All are good !!

why dont your track send  to label...?

I'm glad you like it. Honestly,I'm a bit surprised because I thought that 1st post about this track would be like "This track needs more bass". I didn't send it to any label because it was made for remix contest (Which I'm propably not going to win because of my production lvl).

Mixing/Mastering / Limiter and Gate and it's use in EDM!
« on: March 30, 2016, 01:01:42 pm »
Hi guys

I'm into music production for well...2-3 years and I must say I didn't made much progress (you might hear my latest track which I post in "finished tracks" thread). What I realized is that i've never finished any project that would include on any track limiter or gate. That's because I simply don't know what it makes and whenever I've tryied to use it (I tryied on many things , drums , leads , stereo out) it makes my sound worse. So huge request for you guys. Please explain me shortly how limiter and gate works , what are your favourite presets , and how you use it in your tracks. I would really appriciate if any of you gives me hints or show in sound examples how limiter or gate make's your sound better. :)

Ps.I know that uncle google knows everything , but i belive that I would learn from from here much more (and much faster obviusly) L i m i t e r & G a t e M8!

Finished Tracks / Massive Dubstep/chillout remix
« on: March 29, 2016, 10:41:55 pm »
Hey guys.

Here is my latest track I've made (remix).  I'd love to see your opinions/feedback about this track :)

First of all , the track is really short (2:54) and for one minute there nothing happens (only drums?).
I'ts great that you experiment with vocal chops , but i think you should at least try to put some stabs, plucks or leads (I know it's is bass track , but it doesn't means you can't put any lead/pluck sound there). Also only 4-5 tracks for drums , 1 track for vocal , 1 track for bass and 1 for fx is not enought to make a good track(at least in this situation)...
Also the bass honestly does not fit into this track. I feel like it hurts my ears. It's not even about the sound of this bass , but the melody which is played by this bass and how it was placed in track. All I can advice you , just take the track you like from internet and try to reconstruct it on your DAW. You'll learn about arrangement and other stuff.

I think track is good, If i were you , I would propably try to send this track to labels to see if someone want's to release it. What might be the biggest minus in this track is main melody...I mean the track sound's great because of it's mixdown/effects/everything , but there is no such awesome main melody which would stuck in my head for a long time. I think that great melody that people would remember/recognize after listetning to it , it's way important than other elements. I think you should focus on that because mixdown and other elements you mastered really well already :)

That goat picture you uploded with your track on soundcloud shows perfectly my feelings during i listen do this :p
Now for real: Track is good but the dubstep part too much contrivate. I think it's good that you experiment , but honestly I don't like this part (But i'm pretty sure there are a lot of people who would actually like this part) :) .

Okay :D, thanks for the insight. I was thinking of maybe adding vocals, and I definitely need better drum samples. I suppose mixing comes with experience so I'll just keep at it.

Yeah , if you got a good vocalist (or simply good accapella that would fit to your track) it is worth a try. Also working with vocal gives you additional experience (many producers claims it is really hard to mix acappella, and they are propably right) :)
