« on: March 28, 2016, 11:06:37 pm »
Hello!

This is my new track that I struggled with for quite a long amount of time. It is quite diverse and I hope you have a good journey listening to this! And I also hope you have some critisism aswell c:

My biggest tip for you: search a lot for good drum samples. The best track can be ruined with bad samples.

Great details, fills. The lead is sometimes a little bit wonky, but the arrangement is very nice, you know how to build tension!!!

The chord progression is top notch! Keep working. You definetly have potential!

The kick at the start is taking way too much space. Good percussion. I'd lower the volume on the finger snap, which is playing alongside the snare in the "drop". Maybe more instrument variation. Good luck!

That guitar at the start got me, man! haha
The energy is outsanding! At 0:48 there could be more movement in the bass and maybe a tad different drum sequence. Also, at 1:05-ish those guitar accents are not something I found pleasant listening to. Overall, great effects, a well done arrangement, that energy.. It lacks better mixing, but that will come with time!

Very wave-y, I like that! More layering could benefit a lot! And you could try to ditch the last parts' vocal with some melody riff or sth, to make it more interesting to listen to, imo.

Too repetetive, imo. For me, it just screams "another generic trap produser". Try to experiment by designing your own sounds (that doesn't mean they have to be absolutely from scratch. It can be as simple as merging two samples together. You never know what you might discover!). Best of luck c:

The arrangement is too repetetive for my liking. Tip: don't struggle day to day with the same project. It is a common mistake and can leave you with a dead end, where you can't progress on the track and it can start getting frusturating. And, imo, it decreases creativity and that is certainly something you just can NOT afford!! c:

You should work on your chord progressions and melody in the break. Also, I recommend trying at least a little to not sound so generic imo. But if that is exactly what you're shooting for, please do! c:

Very little movement going on imo, feels like there should be an emotional peak somewhere, but the track just drifts off. Again, maybe that's just me.

The sidechain is really nice, but it's very exhausting to listen to a track, that feels like every instrument is being sidechained imo. It feels very centered, you could try adding additional elements with less sidechain to fill those 1/4 tiny gaps. Other than that, a great listen!

I love the groove man! The vocal chops should have a bit more reverb and should be a tad more quiet. The arrangement makes it very pleasant to listen to! As for the mastering, you should consider improving your mixing before focusing on the master. Yes, you can hide flaws of mixing with great mastering, but to some extent. I personally like well mixed tracks with any level of mastering over not so well mixed ones with "super good" mastering.
