Samples/Plugins/Software/Gear / Re: Headphones or Speakers ?
« on: April 03, 2017, 02:39:16 pm »
It is definitely ideal to have a studio headphone for quality check. I may be used to my speakers but my room's acoustic isn't 100% great. So I make sure that my track sounds just as great on my headphones!!

Percussions are Hans Zimmer inspired with futuristic sounds. Other than Kenji Kawai's chant sample everything else is made by me!

Yes one can definitely achieve a full sounding mix with just a few elements within a track.. First of all there is nothing wrong with listening to pop music. And it is definitely great to analyze it's mixdown and the song's instrumentation. It's how I got better!!  Anyway one basic way to make something sound full is using chords. I don't mean just holding 3 keys. Just for the sake of demonstrating if you can play every single note from every octave you SHOULD have a full sound. If my track focuses on a lead synth but LACKS fullness when I just hold 1 note, then I'll either create a chord that consists of holding 5-7 notes at the same time then proceed to making a progression out of it... OR focus on sound designing on a lead synth that sounds FULL when I hold 1 note.

Naturally, our ears tells us that something sounds full WHEN a source is producing frequencies that covers the whole Frequency Spectrum.

I use voxengo analyzer to find any harsh frequencies.. but if all fails, like Mussar said you just need to find a better sample!!

Yo I really like your chord progressions and your melodies!!! Intro needs work imo. The length of it is fine but just needs to sound more groovy. And I think some of your sound selections could be better, specifically the kick.

The track doesnt sound all too bad! I think you'll be good for making atmospheric stuff in the future ;)

Anyone stumbled upon their work?? Not only the production is crazy but its STUPID LOUD. But it's ALSO one of the cleanest tracks I've ever heard. It's EDM/Alternative and they've incorporated acoustic drums/guitars in their tracks. It's mixed in a way that I've never heard before.  If anyone knows any other producers that sounds like this please let me know!!!

Sounds good!! But yea like most said at some point the vocal disappears. Also before the drop happens you can either have a quarter note of just
"silence" or a short fade in fx. Anything to make the transition sound more smoother. As for the brick wall thing, I personally don't think its a terrible thing. It doesn't sound too squashed. In the end just double check every sound and make sure that whatever you think should be heard, will be heard.

good luck!!

It doesn't sound too bad. I guess try widening the main sound of the drop. But don't widen too much. Maybe just around 700hz-4khz. Also try adding some high end to the lead to make it sound "fuller".

Also is this for a remix contest?
