dang dude! this is bumpin! great sample choice as well. the panning is a very risky choice because I would love to play this at a show but if the speakers are far apart then one side of the crowd wouldnt hear the other side of the track

WIPs / First time using original vocals!
« on: January 13, 2016, 07:11:48 am »
My gf is a singer and I finally recorded her and myself for my newest original track. Lyircs arent anything special but Im super excited with how the vocals turned out, especially after the pitch effects!

lemme know watcha think! Oh and Id love some thoughts on how to transition at 0:31, nothing I make seems to fit so I just left it empty on this version.

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Mono kick?
« on: January 12, 2016, 06:54:11 am »
definitely keep the low end (~<130) of the kick mono but the high is up to you and how it sounds in the mix depending on where the other elements of the track are placed

Mixing/Mastering / Getting a cleaner bass/sub mix
« on: January 12, 2016, 06:50:42 am »
hey guys, I've had this track ready to go for a while but Im hesitant to release it as Im not entirely happy with the kick/bass mix its got going on. The bass still feels a bit untamed and messy to me. Any advice on how to get the bass tighter and give it more control in the mix would be a big help!

Mixing/Mastering / Re: Dyro Mixing Tip

not sure how to actually accomplish this in Ableton or any other DAW because Im not sure what he means by "link the bass to the high" but the idea is that the low frequencies act as a modulation on the highs. This could mean a volume or distortion or compression automation but I can't be sure because "link the bass to the high" is extremely vague. My best guess would be to buss the low end of your whole mix and the highs to one channel, then distort that channel, then filter out all the lows and mix that channel back into your mix. Not exactly sure if thats what he means but worth a shot!

WIPs / Re: Trap WIP

really cool track! my only suggestion would be to make the growls in the drop (the synth that hits at 0:31) louder. Or maybe sidechain some of the other elements in the drop to those growls so they really cut through the mix and fill up the speakers some more. great job on this one!

Yo whats up! New here and I was real happy with my mixdowns until I started listening to all yours so I need some help on these!

First is a glitch hop kinda remix of Toms Diner, first song where I felt comfortable with stereo imaging but would love some thoughts on that and the overall mix.
