You Might Like... / Question about artists similar to older Kaskade

Hey all!

I'm not completely sure if this is the appropriate place for a question like this but if it isn't feel free to move!

I'm wondering if anyone can suggest some artists similar to older Kaskade (older in terms of strobe light seduction, dynasty time period) and in specific, tracks like Back on you, One heart, It's you it's me, Everything, etc...
David Morales is one who've I have found is similar (obviously since Kaskade remixed one of his tracks) but outside of him I'm struggling to find that sort of funky-yet-modern vibe (if anyone could also include what that sub-genre is called, I'd much appreciate as well!)

Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Purchasing MIDI only sound packs

Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right sub for this topic, if not please move it to the appropriate place..

I'd like to see what everyone thinks of buying MIDI element packs on sample pack site such as Samplemagic, etc.?
Do y'all consider that cheating since someone else came up with the melody and your just voicing it? Or because your voicing it, it's still your original melody? Obviously since those packs are royalty free, it becomes your property but I just wondered how people perceive the use of these sort of tools.

Personally, I used some pre-made MIDI as the pad & piano base for this track but build around it and obviously added elements to complement that (purchased) progression. However I got a fair bit of feedback praising me for the progression but I've always felt a bit guilty due to that whole idea basis not originally coming from my own head.

As someone who is clearly not fluent in music theory, sometimes I feel that MIDI element packs are the only way to spark an idea that could take me to the "next level" of production.

What does everyone else think?

Hey guys,

Love the idea of this forum, hope to get some good feedback here!
A little bit about me...
I started DJing around 4 years ago, producing 2 years ago. So obviously I'm pretty raw so I'm really looking for some constructive mixing feedback.. I feel like I have a good sense of song structure and understand how to process some drums but outside of that, I'm really missing that 'shine' that all (relativity) new producers struggle to achieve with their tracks. This mix is really bass heavy due to mixing on two Rokit 5's without a sub (should have listened in different environments ie car, friend's stereo, etc) but I view my music at this point purely as stepping stones towards a better product in future years. However, getting that "hey man, this song bangs" complement certainly would improve my morale in terms of sticking with making music.

So anyway, here is the soundcloud link. Let me know what you think, good or bad. I know it's not Slander or NGHTMRE, but hopefully you'll get the idea and can give me some thoughts for my productions going forward.
