I've been trying go get into tropical / deep house recently, because I love the genre's heartwarming and relaxing feel. I've already done a couple small projects with the genre but I'd love to cooperate with someone so we can both get better.

For the time being, we're letting people connect on other parts of the forum and gain some mutual respect, and then if people want to collab they can always DM each other. We're just afraid of a section like this becoming too impractical, cus collabing is a very private thing between two or more producers who've already spent time getting familiar with eachother's methods and ideas.

This makes sense, but it can be difficult to connect on a forum like you say without a general discussion / offtopic / general producing forum section.

I play trombone (rather intensely at that, one of the top in the state) and it has helped tremendously. I already knew music, and had a very trained ear for theory. Because I often play bass lines in pieces, I understand progressions well now.
