Composition/Arrangement/Theory / Can't ever seem to finish a track; advice?
« on: January 06, 2016, 07:37:57 pm »
I've been producing music casually for around a couple of years or so now. I don't know much in the way of music theory but I know enough to get by. I've transitioned from FL Studio to Ableton Live which I think has been a major boost for my productivity workflow as it suits me better, but as of late I always hit one problem:
I can't finish a track. I just can't. 9 times out of 10 I'm perfectly able to flesh out an intro, but after that point I always get stuck. Sometimes I can hear what comes next in my head but can't recreate the sound, but most of the time I just straight up don't know where to go from there.
It's holding me back from putting together anything longer than 1 minute 30 which is seriously killing my vibe.
Open to exploring any advice you can throw at me. Cheers!
