Does anybody know how to adjust the bars in Ableton Live9? I don't want them to start at 1, but  preferably 4 counts before, but the timeline below still has to start at 1. I find this a little difficult to explain so I will describe my 'problem', maybe that helps.
When I bounce a premaster I want 4 beats/counts in front of the project to be empty. So now every time I finish a track I select all tracks and drag them to the right. But there should be an easier solution for this, I guess. But I can't seem to find out. Of course I already checked the manual, but I guess I can't describe it properly to find it.

I have this trouble sometime that bothers me A LOT.

whenever I am producing, I don't know if its just me but when I make this sick sounding drop, I will keep on listening to that part, adding stuff, subtracting unnecessary sounds, etc.. but as I do that.
that first exciting feeling I got from that drop is not interesting anymore and it ends up sounding not good to me...

Is it because I am looping that part over and over again? or is it just not dope in the first place?...

I don't know if any of you ever experienced this.
If you get bored of your sick drop by listening to it too much, do you just get rid of it and go for another one?

All the comments I would have had about the repetition part are already mentioned. But I might have a tip about losing that feeling. This works for me quite often. I regularly save my projects under a new version, like v1.0, after that v1.1 and so on. In that case you can go back if you loose the feeling, either to deconstruct what happened. Or just simply to start over again.

Sound Design / Re: quality piano synth's/kontakt libraries
« on: March 05, 2016, 03:06:23 pm »
It depends on which 'feel' I'm after. But here are the ones I use the most, lately:

Kontakt (Alicia Keys library), and in the past Truepiano: for the more classic/acoustic piano feel.
Korg M1: For the 90's house piano. Totally rediscovered this one again.
Nexus: For the more progressive house / pop dance like piano's.

But it's all a matter of taste too of course.

I find it really hard to let people listen to my music. I put a lot of time, devotion and love into it.
How many finished tracks have you made so far?

Somewhere around 90 tracks so far (in the last 4 years). But most of them I never shared, except with my wife and some really close friends. Maybe I'm giving myself an answer here already. This is my first time on a forum like this and I just noticed I can also post tracks (and even WIP's) for feedback here.

I think my question wasn't totally clear. But thank you all for your your feedback, much appreciated. I know the difference between opinions and proper technical feedback etc. But in what degree do you care about opinions in this case? Do you care about if people like what you make, or should that just be a bonus? I was more looking for your thoughts on that, I guess.

Soundtoys Little Alterboy: for creating great effects, mostly on vocals (but also on leads sometimes)

BX Stereomaker: this thing does exactly what it promises. I just love it!

Voxengo MSED (FREE PLUGIN): for mid-side stereo widening.

Keep on coming with all these great suggestions. Makes me kinda greedy though...

I find it really hard to let people listen to my music. I put a lot of time, devotion and love into it. And to deal with comments on "my baby's" is difficult for me at times. Although I can separate personal opinions from proper feedback.
Of course I know I can still learn a lot. And I'm working on that every single day. But at some point you should let people hear what you make, right? I easily think my tracks are not finished yet, ending up not letting anybody hear them. Or when I finally do I get not so nice comments (or no comments at all) which makes me insecure again.

Any tips how to better deal with this?

It's a shitty form of writers block, how do you deal with it?

I've been here a few times (and it will probably happen again). So I totally get it. What really works for me is to stop working on my music and find relaxation. Because If I continue I will only get more frustrated, which makes me feel bad (again). And before I know it I get stuck in this cycle.
I know this sounds easy. Because than you might feel guilty about not working on your music etc. But personally, after some practice, I notice it much earlier know. And than I go and do something fun. Like feeding the ducks with my daughter, or going to my brother for some mindless PS4 gaming, etc. But thats really personal of course.
But when I'm relaxed I soon feel the urge again of making music again.

@zau Thanx for this great post! I'm gonna try this technique. The stuff you write sounds quite familiar to me. My wife actually calls me a butterfly because I tend to get easily distracted...  ;D So I absolutely understand the checking the email, Facebook etc part you mentioned. On the other hand I can also get really focused. And some projects I can easily work for  3 or 4 hours straight without drinking or going for bathroom brakes. I basically just ignore my body. It's not something I want, I just get caught up in the flow of the project. I'm gonna try that app. Thanx again.

I personally think lyrics should be (I guess with more art forms for that matter) open to your own interpretation. So hey fit whatever mood you are in. A little difficult to explain, but I hope you get what I mean.  8)

- Trust your gut (and dare to be vulnerable). Make what feels right to you (without any , often externally motivated, limitations).

- Make lots of flight hours. There are so many reasons to support this. Some of them: Practice makes perfect, you get to know your DAW and your plugins, "happy accidents" will occur, and your own sound will develop.

- Have fun! You will hear it in your music.

- Stay positive! :-)
