You probably have some bass frequencies muddying up your mix. Look into eq-ing and sidechain compression

One of my favourite artists at this stage of my life right now are Puppet and Tristam. I really want to learn making Puppet's orchestral-ish vocals and how to bass out like Tristam but like, HOW THE HECK DO I DO THAT ?!11!!1!

[Edit] My friend told me that a way I could make Puppet's orchestral-ish vocals sample is by just adding lots of reverb but the fact that he uses Ableton Live doesn't really help. Any hopes here?

Reference link?

I would like to know how they did the chord synth that is playing throughout the track. It sounds so fucking good.

such a good record. sounds a lot like a saw chord but then pitched down. try using abletons vocoder effect on a saw wave chord, set the carrier to modulator and turn down the formant. also sounds like its got some reverb on it with a really small room. Also try putting some TAL chorus on it, one of my new favorite plugs https://tal-software.com/products/tal-chorus-lx

I felt in love with this track as soon as i heard it, anyone got any ideas on how that chord synth in the drop was made? and what the bass too maybe?

to me it sounds like strings layered with a bit of saw and a bit of noise. I got a similar sound by layering a saw wave & a string section sample and then playing a nice pretty 7th chord. you can use an auto pan with amt 100% rate 1/16 phase 360 and shape 63.5% to get the gate effect.

and then to get the slidey effect you can go up on the pitch bend

bit of chorus/reverb/eq at the end and you're pretty close! ST probably spent a lot of time processing trying to get those chords to sound just right so be prepared to do the same :)

How would you make the funny lead bell/kalimba thing you hear in this song at 1:17

https://soundcloud.com/tennysonmusic/no-answer

you can hear it in this track too at 1:17 oddly enough

both great tracks :)

you can take an 808 tom (if you're using ableton just do a search for it and one should come up) and then drag it into a sampler. pitch it up and start playing notes! you can add a transient shaper to make it punch a little harder and sound more sticky

any ideas on how to recreate the metallic sounding arp that comes in at 10 seconds?

https://clyp.it/zhspmlx2

put an arpeggiator in front of a sine wave (operator default preset works fine) and put the steps to 3 and the rate to 1/64

play a big chord (good one to try is C-Eb-G-Bb-D) and voila!
