« on: July 22, 2017, 01:06:08 am »
Hello all,

Attached  is a progressive trance track I've been working on this summer. Looking for tips - any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Hello - just some as I gave it a listen:

  • @33 sec - the song seems out of key. Which key is the track in?
  • Are you using the side chain? The kick isn't cutting through the mix at all (the most important part of a Uplifting Trance track)
  • I'd choose another sample for the clap or process it more - use some reverb on it

I feel the track is empty emotionally if you are truly going for uplifting trance. The piano wasn't too bad, though. I feel the lead progression you have gives it a dark sound.

I'd recommend listening to more UL trance, or even using a reference track, and see how UL trance producers arrange a track to tie the listener in and him them in the feelz during a breakdown. But I think you may need to some experimenting with using music theory as a reference as well to get the true uplifting trance sound. Other than, keep producing. You'll eventually get there!

I find the chords in the drop kinda loud.also what i would dois replace the kick drum for another sample. I recommend you to watch some videos about mixdown and stuff which are gonna point you in the right way of improving yourself. Then it all comes with practicing . Good luck !

Thank you for the reply. I will take a look at mixdown videos, and before posting this track, I knew that is my biggest weakness. When you say replace the kick drum for another sample, is it because the particular kick drum I chose doesn't fit the track? I'm actually layering two kick drums and that might be screwing me up.

The kick + bass part really needs work. It's pretty dull at the moment. There is very little mid-bass that usually gives the driving feeling to a track.

Take a listen to a track like this: https://soundcloud.com/kinesthetics/nurburgring

Thanks. For the bass - does it seem like the mid-bass just isn't there or not mixed very well? I tried to go for a funky bassline and tried to avoid a rolling one.

Thank you for that track. It's amazing and will definitely take ideas.

Hello all,

My first post on this forum. I've been messing around with this track for a couple of months and wanted some feedback from you guys. I'm very new to production, so constructive feedback would be great. I tried to go for a progressive trance feel.

Thank you for listening!  8)

Nice track! I've been looking to create some progressive trance myself. I suck right now, though.

I really like the start of that pad at 2:13 of the track. Almost sounds like a vocal. If you don't mind - do you have a tutorial or tips on how to create that type of sound?

Thanks!
